You will receive a consultant-reviewed diagnosis and treatment plan within 3 working days of submitting your questionnaire and photographs.
Every case is personally reviewed by Dr Yasir Azim Mirza, Consultant Dermatologist and GMC Specialist Register Dermatologist (GMC No. 6044912). This is not an automated or AI-based service.
The consultation fee is £150 and includes:
Consultant review
Diagnosis or Suspected Diagnosis
Personalised treatment plan
Skincare advice
Prescription recommendations where appropriate
Prescription charges are separate and payable to the pharmacy
Yes. Where appropriate, Dr Mirza can issue a private electronic prescription for suitable treatments.
Prescription Charges
There is no fee for issuing an initial prescription. Please note that the dispensing pharmacy will charge separately for the cost of any medication supplied.
Where treatment is initiated, an initial prescription will usually be issued for a duration of one month only, where clinically appropriate. This is because it is not always possible to predict an individual’s response to a new medication, including its effectiveness and any potential adverse effects, at the outset. A shorter initial prescription allows for appropriate assessment of tolerability, safety, and clinical response before continuing treatment.
If the medication is well tolerated and effective, ongoing prescriptions may be obtained via your GP, subject to their clinical discretion. Alternatively, you may request a repeat private prescription through my clinic. Please note that a fee of £25 applies for each repeat prescription request. This fee reflects the clinical review of your medical records, prescribing responsibility, and the administrative processing involved in issuing a prescription.
In some cases, a follow-up consultation may be recommended before further prescriptions can be issued, particularly where ongoing monitoring, reassessment, or discussion of treatment response is clinically necessary.
You may upload up to 10 photographs as part of your consultation.
We recommend including:
Close-up images showing the affected area in detail.
Wider images showing the surrounding skin.
Images taken in good lighting and in sharp focus.
Providing multiple high-quality photographs can improve diagnostic accuracy.
For the most accurate assessment:
Take photographs in natural daylight where possible.
Ensure images are in focus.
Avoid shadows and poor lighting.
Include both close-up and wider images.
Do not apply filters or edit photographs.
Remove makeup or cosmetics from the affected area where appropriate.
For privacy and safeguarding reasons, photographs of the female breast, genital area, or intimate body areas should not be submitted through the E-Dermatology service. If assessment of these areas is required, a face-to-face consultation may be recommended.
Photograph Requirements
To ensure an accurate assessment, the photographs submitted should clearly show the skin condition as it appears at the time of your consultation.
Please upload recent, clear, and representative photographs of the problem for which you are seeking advice. Photographs should accurately reflect the current appearance and extent of the condition.
Please do not submit:
Old or historical photographs that do not represent the current state of the condition.
Screenshots or photographs of photographs.
Images that have been edited, filtered, cropped excessively, or altered in any way.
Images unrelated to the condition being assessed.
Your consultation and any clinical recommendations will be based on the history provided and the photographs submitted. The accuracy of the assessment may be affected if photographs are outdated, unclear, incomplete, or do not accurately represent the condition at the time of consultation.
If the photographs provided are insufficient or do not allow a safe assessment, further images or a face-to-face consultation may be recommended.
No. Suspicious moles and skin lesions require an in-person assessment and dermoscopic examination. If you are concerned about a changing mole, please arrange a face-to-face consultation.
Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) cannot be prescribed through our E-Dermatology service alone. However, Dr Yasir Mirza can assess whether isotretinoin may be an appropriate treatment option based on your medical history, questionnaire responses, and submitted photographs.
Following review, you may be advised that isotretinoin is a suitable treatment option and invited to attend a face-to-face consultation. Before isotretinoin can be prescribed, a number of important safety requirements must be completed, including:
Confirmation that isotretinoin is clinically appropriate.
Face-to-face consultation and informed consent process.
Weight assessment.
Baseline blood tests
Discussion of potential side effects and monitoring requirements.
For females of childbearing potential, strict pregnancy prevention measures are required. This includes appropriate contraception and compliance with current UK isotretinoin prescribing regulations before treatment can be started.
The E-Dermatology service can therefore be used as an initial assessment and triage pathway to determine whether isotretinoin may be suitable, but treatment cannot be initiated remotely.
Yes. Many common causes of hair loss can be assessed remotely. Following review, you will receive a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis, management plan, and treatment recommendations where appropriate.
A copy of your consultation letter will be sent to your GP to support continuity of care, unless you request otherwise.
Yes. Your information is stored securely using healthcare-compliant systems and handled in accordance with UK data protection requirements.
No. This service is not suitable for urgent or emergency conditions. If you are seriously unwell or require urgent medical attention, please contact NHS 111, your GP, or attend your nearest Emergency Department.
If you are unsure, contact us before booking. We will be happy to advise whether E-Dermatology is likely to be appropriate for your condition.
Many common skin conditions can be diagnosed accurately from a detailed history and good-quality photographs. However, remote consultations have limitations, and some conditions require face-to-face examination. If this is the case, Dr Mirza will advise you accordingly and recommend the most appropriate next step.
Your privacy is important to us.
Personal information and clinical photographs are stored securely using healthcare-compliant systems and are handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
Information is only accessed by authorised personnel involved in your care and administration. Clinical records are retained in accordance with professional and regulatory requirements.
Following review of your questionnaire and photographs, one of the following outcomes may apply:
1. Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
If sufficient information is available to make a safe clinical assessment, you will receive a consultant-authored report containing:
Diagnosis or differential diagnosis
Treatment recommendations
Skincare advice
Follow-up recommendations
Electronic prescription where appropriate
2. Telephone, Video or Face-to-Face Discussion of Your E-Dermatology Assessment
In most cases, your diagnosis and treatment plan can be provided entirely through the E-Dermatology service without the need for a further appointment.
However, if you would like to discuss your E-Dermatology report in more detail, ask
additional questions about your diagnosis or treatment plan, or if further clarification is required, a short 10-minute appointment can be arranged:
Telephone consultation (£50)
Video or Face-to-Face consultation (£75)
These fees apply only to discussions relating to your current E-Dermatology consultation and are not follow-up consultation fees.
If ongoing management, treatment monitoring or review of treatment response is required, a formal follow-up consultation may be recommended. E-Dermatology patients benefit from a reduced follow-up consultation fee of £145 (usual fee £195)
3. E-Dermatology Not Suitable
Some skin conditions cannot be safely assessed remotely.
If, after reviewing your questionnaire and photographs, Dr Mirza determines that E-Dermatology is not suitable for your condition, you will receive advice regarding the most appropriate next steps. A partial refund may be provided, with a £50 clinical review fee retained to cover consultant assessment and administration costs.
4. Referral to Another Servicesessment
Where appropriate, you may be advised to seek further assessment by another specialist or healthcare service, either privately or through your GP. This recommendation forms part of the clinical consultation and no refund will be provided.
Some skin conditions require face-to-face examination, dermoscopy, blood tests, patch testing, biopsy, or surgery.
If your condition is unsuitable for E-Dermatology, you will be advised on the most appropriate next steps and referral pathway.
Refund policy
If your case is unsuitable for E-Dermatology, a partial refund may be provided with a £50 clinical assessment fee retained.
E-Dermatology consultation includes a written report with a treatment plan. Additional telephone, video, or face-to-face consultations can be arranged if further discussion is required.
We are committed to providing a high-quality, consultant-led service. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your consultation, please contact us and we will review your concerns promptly and fairly. Feedback helps us continually improve our service.
